Bronze and Stone

Desiree Wijgman is a sculptor through and through. She carves beautiful sculptures from solid blocks of marble and is one of the few artists who casts her own bronze works by hand.

Strong, inventive, and impossible to place in a single category, she is constantly creating, whether in her studio, on her land, or at her home in Italy.

Desiree is a true craftswoman.

Years of experience

Desiree Wijgman creates both commissioned and autonomous work, ranging from abstract sculptures to figurative pieces. Whether it is a large sculpture for the garden or a small intimate artwork, the possibilities are endless. She has been represented for many years by Art Gallery Salon West and several other galleries. Her work is collected both nationally and internationally.

"Those who observe carefully never see the same thing twice. That inspires me and is why I never limit myself to one direction. I enjoy creating abstract and figurative works alike, whether free forms or lifelike portraits. Sometimes a rough stone reveals the idea to me, while other times I shape clay into the form already living in my mind."
